Do you like camo? Do you like football? Are you obsessed with gear? Well, then we definitely have some things in common. We’ve got our hands on some insane Highlight MC’s in a green/brown/orange colorway. These Highlights feature UA ClutchFit which acts as a ‘second-skin’ that molds to your foot and ankle to provide ridiculous support and feel. Under Armour has put some impressive tech into these boots (PlasmaX, 4D Foam footbed, 3D-molded tongue, V56 tech, etc.) that keep them under 11 ounces(!) with out-of-control stability.
If you want to check out some more of the features and benefits, see them right here: UA Camo Highlights

We hiked to the Pinnacle on a fine day in late June. There were rocks to climb and branches to wade through, but there is little that we cannot do when we’re together and striving for a collective goal. As you must already know, our goal was to raise funds and awareness for Progeria Research Foundation through HIKE4HOPE. This, we achieved raising tens of thousands of dollars as well as awareness through our online efforts.
To remain forthcoming, the hike was challenging and the views were sublime. We thought about our friends Nathan and Bennett. We thought about our cause. We thought about how inspiring the rolling hills of Pennsylvania are from up high. It was a good day.
Whatever ups and downs we see as a business, we never forget that it is our responsibility to do good. Hopefully, we can do some good this month through our partnership with HIKE4HOPE, which is an organization that benefits Progeria Research Foundation. HIKE4HOPE is a truly astounding effort of Amy Ruhf to walk one mile of the Appalachian Trail this summer for each child in the world who suffers from Progeria (250 children means 250 miles). This is to honor the families and children affected, bring awareness and raise funds for the Progeria Research Foundation.
We joined in for the past few weeks and for every dollar donated, we are donating two more, allowing each donation to go three times further. If you are so inclined, you can donate through this link.
Our involvement in HIKE4HOPE not only comes from our collective desire to do good, but also because there are two children in our neck of the woods that live with Progeria and they have inspired us with their warm hearts and adorable smiles. Raising many thousands of dollars for HIKE4HOPE is something that we are proud of, but our muscles have been aching to get involved a bit more and really show our support for the children all over the world with this condition and the children right here in the Philadelphia area.
Many of us at Sports Unlimited will be hiking through a 9.5 mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail with Amy from HIKE4HOPE this Friday, June 27, 2014. We’ve got our boots and our water ready to go and although it will be difficult, it will be worth it. We will look over the stunning views of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania and know that our sweat and our effort is not just for ourselves.
Last week we hosted our friends Nathan and Bennett, as well as their parents, sister, and friends. We showed them some of the sporting goods that we carry and had them take part in some games like field hockey, lacrosse, football, baseball, soccer, and so much more. They even got to sit on and start a motorcycle with the help of Matt! It was a day I will always remember and I think it will be one they will too. Below are some pictures of our time with the boys.
Look for more posts about our hike and some pictures on the trail!
If you’re like myself and many other Americans, you may not know very much about soccer or the World Cup. However, you don’t want to be left out. Did you know that the World Cup is estimated to draw approximately 1.3 billion viewers worldwide in the final match? Compare that to the Super Bowl’s 110 million viewers. Wow!
Let’s have a little fun with this whole World Cup thing. This creative flow chart will help you decide exactly who to root for or will just make you laugh.
The first match is this Thursday, June 12th and with the championship game being held on July 13th.
In January, we resolved to build new and exciting things in 2014. We have been working hard to keep our promise, and the first of many great changes we are making this year is the launch of our new logo…
BEHOLD!
The importance of protecting the 30 year history and culture of Sports Unlimited is unquestioned, but while we hold it close to our hearts, we must continue to move forward through innovation, energy, and connection with our most loyal customers.
We love it because it represents the strength, passion, and mentality that each person at Sports Unlimited possesses. It is who we we are and who we want to be.
There are many ways to measure a great helmet, but few metrics are more important than the eye test.
Maybe the best part about the Cascade R Men’s Lacrosse Helmet is that its visual appeal applies to both the player wearing the helmet and the one looking at it from afar.
Yes, the protection is space-aged in its advancement and we’ll get into that, but one of the major advantages of this helmet is a wider field of vision, particularly when looking down for ground balls. The new R-series mask offers improved sight lines, especially in the peripheral, where a wider cutout allows you to see more of the field. Thin bars that are angled down open up your vision even more so you’ll have the best view of anyone.
Launched in July 2013, the R is built to stand out. With 18 customizable colors in seven different parts of the helmet, you can easily get any look you want. The most distinguishing feature of this helmet is an extended molded chin that can be spotted from anywhere on the field. That chin piece runs through the ear, offering a more rigid jaw line for added safety.
The rest of the protection comes from within, where years of research went into creating this helmet. The R features a dual liner, combining two technologies from Cascade – SevenTech and PoronXRD – built to protect you from both high impacts, mainly from another player, and lower impacts, like an errant stick to the head. PoronXRD is noticeable on the inside of the helmet thanks to its yellow color. It’s a new kind of foam that’s not only comfortable but helps dissipate linear force on those lower intensity impacts. The material is soft and pliable against the head, but stiffens up on impact.
SevenTechnology is a liner system that also helps to manage energy transfer on hits. The liner can be seen through the vents on the top of the shell and assists with high-energy hits. SevenTech, found in the CPX-R helmet from Cascade, laterally displaces the energy from an impact and then resets to prepare for the next blow. By combining SevenTech and PoronXRD, the Cascade R helmet features never before seen protection.
Fit is of utmost importance when talking about protection, and the R can be customized in a variety of ways to make sure you get the fit that’s right for you. The helmet includes three sizes of jaw pads to ensure your head is securely in the helmet laterally. Cascade’s HardTail SPR fitting system, found in the CPX-R, allows the helmet to fit all sized heads. The clickable fit system, found in the back of the helmet, allows you to tighten the helmet to your specifications and can be easily adjusted on the fly.
The Cascade R helmet has swept through the lacrosse world, as it’s been used by college and pro teams, along with high schools and clubs across the country. If you want the look the top players are sporting – or have any more lacrosse equipment needs – be sure to check out Sports Unlimited.
We did good. We had fun. We’ve got pictures to prove it!

In only a few hours, in our warehouse at Sports Unlimited, we packaged more than 10,000 meals for starving people all over the world. Here are some photographs of our experience. Note the smiles!
It has been cold, quite cold. And as you tire of polar vortexes or vortices or whatever horrifying scientific terms you discover, I want to assure you that winter *does not* last forever. So I am declaring the end of winter. Oh? Well, winter is not technically over, but I am over it. Be gone, I say!
And with the (fake) end of winter, we arrive at the Winter End of Season Sale. Hip, hip, brrr…ay!
Take advantage of some ridiculous deals on The North Face, Under Armour, Patagonia, Sleds, Bern, Oakley and more.
